Abstract
It is presented the first occurrence of the late Pleistocene - Holocene mammals fossils in a gnamma-like deposit in the Baixa Grande municipality, Bahia State. The identified taxa were Eremotherium laurillardi (Pilosa - Megatheriidae), Panochthus greslebini (Cingulata - Glyptodontidae), Toxodontinae (Notoungulata - Toxodontidae) and Stegomastodon waringi (Proboscidea - Gomphoteriidae). The inferred ecology for this fauna is related to a savanna/forest habitat, in a more wet climate than the present-day semi-arid climate.

Summary
O município de Baixa Grande (Figura 1) localiza-se na região centro-leste do Estado da Bahia, nas proximidades da Chapada Diamantina. Ocorre um predomínio dos registros fósseis quaternários nos depósitos cársticos da Chapada Diamantina, como demonstram pesquisas realizadas nas últimas décadas (Cartelle & Bohórquez, 1985; Cartelle, 1992; Cartelle, 1998). Este trabalho tem como objetivos relatar e identificar os fósseis de megafauna descobertos pela primeira vez no município de Baixa Grande, além de avaliar as condições paleoambientais e paleoclimáticas do Quaternário tardio da região a partir dos elementos da fauna coletada.
