Meeting the needs of the modernization act: Challenges in developing pediatric therapies

Abstract

As we enter a new era in medicine, namely the era of applied molecular biology, we can appreciate some of the forces that have made it possible. Opportunities are developing that will make great strides in the recognition and prevention of asthma and significantly reduce morbidity and mortality rates. This supplement summarizes the important contributions from a number of fields related to the development of therapeutic interventions in childhood asthma.
