Meeting the Cultural Challenges of Instructional Technology in Iran

Abstract

There is currently recognition of the extreme need for communication technologies by both scholars and officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This paper documents the cautious, yet extremely pro-technology actions being taken by Iran. It examines the past and looks into the future. It asks the major question of what the new communication technology will hold for many less developed regions of the world. Will new communication technologies strengthen their existing societies, or will they strengthen neo-colonialism dependency? Dieser Artikel dokumentiert vorsichtige, aber technologie-freundliche Massnahmen im Iran. Er befasst sich mit der Vergangenheit und wirft einen Blick in die Zukunft. Die Frage, auf die es ankommt ist, was bringt die neue Kommunikationstechnologie für die unterentwickelten Regionen dieser Welt. Werden diese Technologien die bestehenden Gesellschaften stärken oder stärken sie die Abhängigkeit von einem Neo-Kolonialismus? Diese Fragen werden mit Blick auf die herkömmliche iranische Bildungspolitik erörtert.
