Abstract

Abstract The American Meteorological Society held its Eighth Symposium on Education in conjunction with the 79th Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas. The theme of this year's symposium was Enhancing Public Awareness of Weather and Climate Prediction. Forty oral presentations and 58 poster presentations summarized a variety of educational programs or examined educational issues for both the precollege and university levels. There was also a joint session with the 11th Conference on Applied Climatology and a special session on uses of educational technology for effective teaching and learning. Over 200 people representing a wide spectrum of the Society attended one or more of the sessions in this two–day conference. The program for the Eighth Symposium on Education can be viewed in the October 1998 issue of the Bulletin.
