Abstract

Culture productivity and product titer can significantly affect the economics of large-scale production of biotherapeutics. Bioreactor space-time productivity is determined by cell density and cell-specific productivity, while product titer is determined by medium feed rate per cell and cell-specific productivity. Therefore, high space-time productivity and product titer from a bioreactor system can be obtained with increased cell density, increased cell-specific productivity and reduced specific medium feed rate.
