Abstract

Abstract The Direct Control layer structure, inside the CONEX architecture, is presented. It is developed in C-Language over a real time operating system. Its level of working can be considered as medium, for it stays over the process interface layer but below the qualitative reasoning one. Its structure allows to include every control algorithm. In the commented present application, PID, fuzzy and state feedback control are employed. Dynamic modifications of the control algorithm parameters can be easily made either by the operator or by any other object of CONEX, and a set of controllers can be prepared for the same loop. Direct Control is independent of the machine in which the rest of the application is working. It is easy to configure from one process to another. These characteristics allow a wide application to the most different kind of processes. Finally an application to the cement industry is commented.
