Abstract

Medium density housing has been a part of the United State's housing and planning scene for a longer period than in Australia. The lessons for Australia are substantial and include the fact that we cannot rely on planning amendments alone to facilitate the provision of more medium density housing. An appropriate financial, organisational and demographic context is also important.
