Abstract

This paper presents a study of the psychometric characteristics of a Portuguese version of two different scales: Need for Cognition (Cacioppo & Petty, 1982) and Faith in intuition (Epstein et al., 1996). These scales assess the individuals disposition towards both elaborative, analytic mode processing (Need for cognition) and towards non-analytic, intuitive mode of processing (Faith in intuitions). The present data was obtained in three different studies where these measures were collected. As in the original scales these measures are shown to be independent.
