Abstract
Therapeutic plants, and the drugs derived from them, are the most important and readily available source of health-care medicines to rural people in Africa. In Africa, many natural resources are used for obtaining pharmaceuticals that have a high national and international economic value. Various parts of Annonacomosus have been used as anti-inflammatory, proteolytic and antihelmithic agent, also as treatment to: diarrhea, indigestion, pneumonia, bronchitis, arthritis, pain, heart disease, diuretic, to expedite labour, arbortion, intestinal worms, venereal diseases, edema, hemoorrhoids, purgative, emmenogogue and vermifuge.The plant is reported to contain alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, triterpenoids and phytosterols.
