Abstract

Medication treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) was associated with a significant reduction in mortality due to suicide, a retrospective cohort study in a population of military veterans has found. The association between medication treatment and reduced risk of suicide was strongest for buprenorphine treatment, the researchers reported. Study results were published in the April 2022 issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry.
