Abstract

Medication adherence in people with epilepsy (PWE) is a crucial factor to reduce risk of seizure recurrence. Adherence to antiepileptic drugs (AED) increases PWE survival and quality of life, whereas non-adherence is associated with increased mortality and increased hospitalization. The MMAS-8 (Modified Morisky Adherence Scale-8) is a valid instrument to evaluate medication adherence in PWE. The aim of our study is to assess clinical and demographic factors that influence medication adherence in PWE.
