Abstract
The chapter “Medical Retina and Uveitis” provides the reader with an overview of the clinical features and management of retinal diseases, notably: age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, vascular disease, hypertensive retinopathy and retinitis pigmentosa. In addition, it covers infective and inflammatory conditions leading to posterior uveitis (e.g. sarcoidosis, Behcet’s disease, tuberculosis and syphilis). The chapter further discusses pathology, imaging, and visualization of retinal diseases and will prove informative for ophthalmologists, optometrists and technicians.
