Abstract

Olle Selinus (1943.6.27–2023.11.18) was born in Cardiff, Wales in Great Britain. He studied at Uppsala University where he received his PhD in minerology-petrology in 1971. Then Olle Selinus started his position as a geochemist and State Geologist at Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU), where he continued working for 39 years until his retirement in 2010. The most significant contribution of Olle Selinus to the international scientific community was the development of the scientific discipline “Medical Geology” which was first adopted in 1997 and the establishment of International Medical Geology Association (IMGA) in 2006. Another significant contribution was the establishment of the International Symposium on Environmental Geochemistry (ISEG) conference series started from 1985.
