Abstract

In the second of two papers on the diagnosis and management of medical emergencies, the measures needed to manage specific medical emergencies are discussed. Each emergency requires a correct diagnosis for effective and safe management. Signs and symptoms are highlighted at the beginning of each section describing patient management. The basis of management in contemporary dental practice avoids the intravenous route of drug administration, where drugs are required. All dental practitioners require a knowledge of the management of specific medical emergencies.
