Abstract

The medical emergencies course for trainees at University College London is a two day course on various medical emergencies. A course booklet was given at registration on the first morning, which contained all the slides to be presented and spaces for making notes. An additional bonus was a complimentary copy of the Oxford Handbook of Critical Care , which was given to all attendees. Lectures were given by regional specialist consultants and several intensive care consultants. A wide range of topics were covered, from seizures and metabolic emergencies to extreme temperature management and acute renal failure.
