Abstract
The Latin America region is a group of territories and countries known for speaking romance languages or Latin languages and is considered the largest area in America. It covers 42 regions from the southern border of North America— Mexico—passing through Central America and Caribbean and ending at the southern tip of South America. Portuguese and Spanish are the main languages spoken among other languages such as French, Dutch, and native/indigenous languages. Since the late 1990s, medical device manufacturers have been discovering a wealth of opportunity in Latin America, which can be attributed to Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina, countries which together make up the third largest economy in the world. The emergent Latin American countries have been offering unique opportunities for medical device commercialization due to their rapidly growing market. Chile and Paraguay are in the early stages of developing a medical device system.
