Abstract

Parental stress is correlated with the occurrence of physical child abuse. Items assessing parent-child and family-related interactional stress are part of the Child Abuse Potential (CAP) Inventory Physical Child Abuse scale. This study investigated the relationship between medical conditions that may produce stress and CAP Abuse scale classification rates to determine the extent that medical conditions increase CAP Inventory misclassifications in parents not known to be abusive
