Abstract
Economic pressure, the passion for security, the crucial importance of health to the individual and the nation, and a worshipful acclaim of advances in the health sciences have forced medical care and health insurance to the foreground. Scarcely a man on the street will decline to express some opinion on this subject. In response to the need for reliable information, Mr. J. F. Follmann, Jr., Director of Information and Research, Health Insurance Association of America, has written this factual volume which carries the subtitle, "A study in social progress." Mr. Follmann does not deny having a viewpoint, but he is, in this reviewer's opinion, remarkably free of the bias and obscurantism which characterize some declarations on both sides in this great American dialogue.
