Abstract

Dual superlyophobic surface is of great value for selective rejections of oil and water, but it is still a formidable task. In this work, we develop a PPY and polygonal Ni–Co LDH nanosheets modified PEEK textile with dual superlyophobicity and great switchable stability. The membrane can separate not only oil/water mixtures but also immiscible organic liquids with different PSE. Moreover, attributed to the ‘mediator effect’ of ethanol, the membrane exhibits ultra-high rejection heights for low PSE organic liquids (80 cm for n-hexane). Last but not least, the membrane remained the high strengths, good solvent resistances, corrosion preventions and thermal stabilities of PPY and PEEK fibre.
