Abstract
The concept of mediation is presented through comments on a selected bibliography. The authors emphasize points not previously highlighted in the mentioned works and clarify some of the basic issues involved in developing a sophisticated concept of mediation for use by professional workers and researchers: the uniqueness of the blind child's developmental mode, the need to go beyond comparisons with sighted children, and the various types of mediation required.
