Mediastinal amyloidoma presenting as dysphagia with computed tomography findings— a rare case report

Abstract

Amyloidosis is a systemic disease of diverse etiology. Localised deposition of amyloid in tissue may present as mass lesion causing compressive symptoms. We are describing one such rare mediastinal amyloidoma presenting as dysphagia. The computed tomography findings are presented. Imaging alone may not be diagnostic but a combination of clinical features, imaging findings and high index of suspicion are essential to make a provisional diagnosis. Thoracotomy is required for histopathologic confirmation and excision of lesion.
