Abstract

Abstract. Climate change has graced and become a discussion among various media, policy-makers, and security analysts, especially the increasingly visible threat. However, quite a lot of debate is taking place regarding the root causes, although public discourse echoes the anthropogenic theory that says humans are the cause. Besides, naturally, climate change becomes a security issue; of course, it is still only a matter of discourse. This paper wants to describe two things: 1) provide an alternative view of the root causes of climate change; and 2) review climate change as a security issue. The author uses critical security theory because it seeks to reassess security from a critical perspective. The author uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods based on the literature review with analysis-descriptive research. The conclusion is that there are quite a few valid perspectives that humans are not the full cause of climate change, and in the issue of climate change, the biosphere is a threatened entity because they attack the layer of places where living things move. As the most superior entity, humans hold a great responsibility to resolve this issue.
