Abstract
The article reviews transformations that contemporary media are experiencing during the period of convergence and intense competition for ratings. Decreased interest in large media leads to the need for better targeting and segmentation of content. In these conditions, mobile messengers, which provides an opportunity to create thematic channels that fully reflect the interests of the internet audience, are becoming an alternative to traditional media. Channels, not being full-fledged media, are capable of delivering unusual and unique authorial content, which is requested by attentive reader and designed in accordance with the latest media technologies.
