Abstract

We investigate the effect of media attention and urban environmental regulation on corporate environmental responsibility fulfilment. Media attention and urban environmental regulation can significantly increase corporate environmental responsibility fulfilment probability and level. The synergistic effect between media attention and urban environmental regulation is shown, and both jointly promote corporate environmental responsibility fulfilment. The mechanism study shows that the synergistic effect enhances the probability and level of corporate environmental responsibility fulfilment by promoting corporate technological innovation and obtaining environmental protection subsidies from the government.
