Abstract

This paper is an update version of one given at an IFLA Coordinating Board Workshop on Management. It seeks to raise awareness of the potential of audiovisual media in management terms. How to use audiovisual media to carry forward a discussion in committee; how AV can help in training; how AV can help publicize a library. The author also looks at how librarians manage media collections, from selection and acquisition stages through to specific services to users. The example of the Nedelands Bibliotheek en Lektuur Centrum is used to illustrate the advantages of centralized action, giving details of audiovisual support services to libraries.
