Abstract
The basis for a new computer-aided mechanism design system is described. It includes the programs MECSYN for synthesis. IMP for analysis, and a new program, ANIMEC, for automatic geometric modelling, assembly and animation of planar mechanisms. Key features of the system are effective graphical input, a common synthesis-analysis database and realistic automatic modelling and animation output for rapid evaluation of results. An example session showing synthesis, analysis, automatic modelling and animation is presented.
