Abstract

During the period 1981–1986, retrospective reviews were made of all records of neonates with meconium aspiration syndrome who required care in the special care baby unit (SCBU) as well as those who had meconium-stained amniotic fluid with tachypnea in the absence of tracheal meconium and a positive chest radiograph and were admitted to an observation unit (“subclinical meconium aspiration syndrome”).
