Abstract

Sr1.96Al2SiO7:Eu0.02,Dy0.02 phosphor was synthesized by the solid state reaction method under weak reducing atmosphere. The crystal structures of Sr1.96Al2SiO7:Eu0.02,Dy0.02 sintered phosphor is gelhenite type structure which belongs to the tetragonal crystallography is determined by XRD pattern. ML sensor film was produced by mixing of Sr1.96Al2SiO7:Eu0.02,Dy0.02 phosphor and epoxy resin in 1:1.5 ratio. A film of this mixture was deposited onto the Lexan polycarbonate substrate at 60°C for 1 h using doctor blade method. When steel ball 130 g mass having a diameter of 3.16 cm was dropped on the ML composite film from different heights, initially ML intensity increases linearly, reaches maximum value and then, it decreases with time. The impact of steel ball leaves blue spot on ML sensing film. The ML intensity increases linearly with the square of impact velocity of the steel ball. The time corresponding to peak ML intensity does not change significantly with increasing impact velocity.
