Abstract

Mechanofluorochromic materials have recently attracted considerable interest as smart materials for use in the fields of luminescence switches, mechanosensors, mechanohistory indicators, security papers, optoelectronic devices, and data storage. In this chapter, recent research on mechanofluorochromic materials based on aggregation-induced emission (AIE) compounds is summarized. It is concluded that mechanofluorochromism is a common feature of most AIE compounds, and AIE compounds are expected to become a rich source of mechanofluorochromic materials.
