Abstract
The effect of high-energy milling of arsenic sulphide As 4S 4 on its phase transition has been studied. The transition of α-As 4S 4 to the high-temperature β-As 4S 4 as well as the formation of As 4S 4 nanosize powder (16–48 nm) has been described. The presence of β-As 4S 4 has been proven by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. The fine particles were characterized by measurement of specific surface area and particle size distribution.
