Abstract

EARLY all of the 33,917 inhabitants of Scottsbluff County, Nebraska, are deperrdent for a livelihood upon an agricultural economy. More than half of them, 57 per cent to be exact, are farmers. One of the principal money crops in the country is the sugar beet. In adjustment to particular physical conditions of the region, persons who have been associated with various aspects of producing and marketing beets have made use of some special kinds of machinery. Economic consequences of the development are of interest to the geographer.
