Abstract
In this paper we report the mechanisms of reductive coupling of CO 2 to quinone anions in acetonitrile (AN). Organic compounds such as unsaturated hydrocarbons, organic halides, phenols and ketones add CO 2 under reducing conditions, and the addition involves either one or two molecules of CO 2 [1-8]. Compounds with anionic oxygens add CO 2 in aprotic solvents to yield carbonates as primary products
