Abstract

Reserpine-induced gastric ulceration was significantly prevented by α-adrenoceptor blockers but not by propanolol or by bilateral adrenalectomy. Intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) administration of reserpine as well as tetrabenazine failed to induce ulceration in albino rats. Pretreatment with 6-hydroxydopamine or atropine methyl nitrate protected the animals from the ulcerogenic activity of reserpine.
