Abstract

AbstractThe influence of the TiCl4 solution treatment on nanocrystalline TiO2 films in dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSC) was investigated and compared with the untreated films by Intensity‐modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS) and Intensity‐modulated photovoltage spectroscopy (IMVS). The IMPS and IMVS experimental results indicated that the electron lifetime (τn), the diffusion coefficient (Dn), the diffusion length (Ln), the incident photo‐to‐current conversion efficiency (IPCE) and the electric charge (Qoc) in open‐circuit of the treated DSC were increased while the electron transit time (τd) decreased comparing with those of the untreated one. The electron generation, transportation, recombination rates and the electron collecting efficiency have been remarkably improved after treating. The properties of the electron generation, transport and recombination under different illumination intensities which were also investigated by IMPS/IMVS were accordant with the results reported in previous literature (© 2012 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
