Abstract

Photoresponses were recorded from single isolated frog rod outer segments by drawing them into the tip of a tight-fitting glass pipet which served as a recording electrode. The size and behavior of the recorded photovoltage of a fully illuminated outer segment indicate that it is probably due to a proximally flowing external photocurrent causing a potential drop across the medium between the outer segment and the pipet wall.
