Abstract
Vitiligo is an acquired depif;mentation disorder mainly characterized by depigmented patches induced by the destruction of epidermal melanocytes. Pathogenetic mechanisms of vitiligo remain unanswered. Recendy, it has been revealed that intemal and extemal factors can cause oxidant-antioxidant imbalance followed by accumulation of reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species in vivo, which in tum leads to oxidative stress and melanocyte destruction. Recently. some artificial and natural antioxidants have been applied to clinical treatment of vitiligo, such as quercetin, placental preparations,ginkgo biloba extract, and so on.
