Abstract

The oxygen reaction rate and the amount of retained oxygen, when mixtures of 1-butene and oxygen are pulsed over the low-temperature Bi 2O 3, MoO 3 (γ) pure phase, were recorded as a function of the pulse number. Results provided direct evidence that the sites at which oxygen enters the catalyst and the sites at which oxygen is used for oxidation reactions are separate and also of an inhibiting competitive adsorption of 1-butene over the reduced sites.
