Abstract

Hard self-excited vibrations occurring in a hydraulic system were analysed by a digital simulation method in the previous study. But the mechanism yet remains pending. In this paper, we investigate the mechanism of the hard self-excitation for a large valve lift by two methods, one of which is based on the shift of the vibration center by nonlinearity of the valve characteristics and the other is based on the energy balance into and out of the poppet. As a result, it is shown that the vibration is caused by asymmetry of the valve pressure-flow characteristics.
