Abstract

A production mechanism is suggested to test the production of a glueball resonance in the process ..pi../sup -/p..-->..phiphin. Our results indicate that the g/sub T/ resonance in this process corresponds to a quarkonium (ss-bar ) state, because the theoretically expected absolute rate of peripheral glueball production is larger than that experimentally observed.
