Abstract

The paper analyzes experimental findings on the deformation of heterogeneous materials that contain microcracks, pores, inclusions, and other structural singularities. The dependence of deformation properties of the materials on loading conditions was examined and common mechanisms and some peculiarities of their behavior were clarified. Constitutive equations for elastic and elastoplastic media with properties responsive to the stress-state type were formulated. Alternative statements of problems for which conventional approaches are inapplicable were proposed and solutions for some of the problems were obtained.
