Abstract
The survey of the phenomenological constitutive theories of plasticity is presented, which includes rate-dependent and rate-independent plasticity models, pressure-dependent plasticity, thermoplasticity, viscoplasticity, and strain gradient plasticity. The application to monocrystalline and polycrystalline metals and geomaterials is discussed. The flow theories and the deformation theories of plasticity are both presented, as well as the plasticity theory based on the multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient into its elastic and plastic parts.
