Abstract

Fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) are composite materials made of plastics reinforced with fibers. Fiber reinforced plastics find increased applications in automotive, marine, aerospace and construction industries. The objective of the present work is to study the effect of nano titanium oxide fillers on the properties of hybrid jute-glass FRP composites. In the present work, nano titanium oxide particles - hybrid jute-glass FRP composites were manufactured with glass fiber chopped strand mat, woven jute mat, polyester resin and nano titanium oxide fillers by the hand layup method. The nano titanium oxide fillers were incorporated in different weight ratios in the fiber reinforced plastics and the mechanical properties were evaluated.
