Abstract

The configuration of thin-tubed concrete is a preferable method to enhance the mechanical properties of concrete. In this paper, the axial behavior of circular thin-tubed molybdenum tailing concrete (TTMoTC) stubs is experimentally and theoretically studied in detail by considering the molybdenum tailing (MoT) replacement ratio and concrete grade. The results show that EC4-04 model is the most reliable model to predict the elastic modulus of molybdenum tailing concrete by using the corresponding compressive strength. The usage of MoT in the core concrete has little effect on the failure modes of thin-tubed concrete stubs and concrete-filled tubes. An approximate linear degradation trend is noticed on the axial strength of TTMoTC. Increasing the MoT replacement ratio would reduce the ultimate displacement, rather than the ductility index of the stubs, regardless of concrete grade. A uniaxial compressive constitutive model for the TTMoTC stubs is proposed and validated. Based on the proposed design method for TTMoTC stub, a full-range prediction analysis is performed.
