Abstract

Mechanical properties of the pellets imitating an anode- supported micro-tubular Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) using a Nickel Oxide-Gadolinia Doped Ceria (NiO-GDC) anode, GDC electrolyte and (La,Sr)(Co,Fe)O3-based cathode have been tested. Two GDC powders from different manufacturers, Anan Kasei and DKKK, were selected for investigation and compared to traditional Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) electrolyte. The mechanical properties, such as Young's modulus, hardness, and biaxial flexure strength of the electrolyte layer and NiO- GDC anode were evaluated and correlated with the SEM morphological characterization.
