Abstract

The aim of current investigation is to find out the effects of filler material composition on the welding properties of Stainless Steel (SS) 304 welded with Semi-Automatic TIG welding process. For this reason 6 mm thick plates were utilized with Single V-Butt joints. Then, Surface roughness, Tensile Strength, Hardness, and EDAX/ SEM investigation of joints were used and assessed with various filler materials like ER 308L, 316L and 310. The filler materials ER 316L and 310 demonstrated lesser properties as compared with ER 308L. From SEM/EDAX investigation it was observed that the joints made with the filler material ER 310, ER 316L and ER 308L possessed high alloying components. Further, it was observed that high alloying components were obtained in the joints which were made with the filler material ER 316L.
