Abstract

ABSTRACT Ultrasonication, degassing and compression experimental work were carried out for the fabrication of Halloysite-epoxy nano-composite. The developed composite has been evaluated according to the flexural strength, density, DSC and microstructure analysis for Halloysite Nano Tube (HNT) reinforcement. Obtained results of the synthesised composites reveal that flexural strength increases as a function of HNT’s loading and for 5%-HNT-epoxy composite maximum value is obtained. Glass transition temperature for the 3% is obtained maximum as comparison to the other loading combinations. Subsequently, density of the HNT-epoxy composites also enhances as per the value of the HNT’s addition. Microstructure of the composites represented the uniform and effective dispersion of the HNT’s particulates on the epoxy for an effect of processing and inter-related with the obtained properties.
