Abstract

This lecture reviews some of the mechanodynamic properties of human body tissue and of the whole body structure and the measurement methods applied in this research area. Impedance data calculated recently from measurements made in the transient acceleration environment are compared to impedance results obtained during steady-state vibrations. Application of these results to a better understanding of the body's physical and physiological and behavioral response to vibration and impact loads is discussed, and their importance to protection-system engineering is stressed.
