Abstract

Natural fibre reinforced polymer composites have grown in popularity as a result of their high specific strength, light weight, and environmental friendliness. The incorporation of natural fibres such as sisal with Sugarcane fibre hybrid composites is also gaining popularity in the industrial world. Natural and synthetic fibres are combined in the same matrix (unsaturated polyester) in this study to create Sisal/Sugarcane fibre hybrid composites with polyurethane resin. The hand lay-up method was used to fabricate the composite. The mechanical properties of the fabricated hybrid composite have been evaluated. Tensile test, impact test and flexural test were done on the produced composites, these results show that this hybrid composite have the tendency to replace the various composites materials made of synthetic fiber which are in existing in use. Sisal’s superior engineering properties make it an excellent green material for use in major sectors such as automotive, marine, construction, and renewable energy. The test result indicates that there is much potential for the research and development of sisal-based products.
