Abstract

The aim of present work is to study the influence of ceramic particles along with flyash on the mechanical characterisation of aluminium hybrid metal matrix composites. In the present investigation, the aluminium hybrid metal matrix composites (AHMMCs) are synthesized by reinforcing with an equal proportion of silicon carbide along with flyash and alumina along with flyash particulates in 3 wt.%, 6 wt.% and 9 wt.% into the matrix alloy using stir casting process. The results reveal that the SiC with FA reinforced aluminium hybrid composites exhibits better mechanical properties with lower density and porosity level as compared to Al2O3 with FA reinforced composites. The uniform distribution of particles was also examined using SEM test and the results inferred that the reinforcement particles are uniformly dispersed.
