Abstract

Abstract High density polyethylene (HDPE) is a basic material in the field of liquid transportation used in the construction of the pipes of the water supply system, namely the tube. It is clear that a good knowledge of the mechanical properties of the high density polyethylene used for fabrication of the tubes is important in engineering, due to large use of such materials. In the paper experimental four-point bend tests are made in order to obtain the flexural characteristics of the tube made from the HDPE. Tubes and fittings made from this material are characterized by a long service life and their maintenace costs are reduced. The results are presented in the paper and can be used in practice and in further research.
